Re:        Our Role in Meeting your Information Needs During the COVID-19 Pandemic

As we at the Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada continue to contact all levels of government across Canada on various provincial governments’ “essential businesses” lists, we felt it important to remind all in the industry, members and non-members alike, that we are a “Guiding Council and not a Governing Council.”

This is to say, our role is to continue to reach out to government officials to seek clarity and direction from them if any areas of our industry fit into any of the broad categories that make up the “essential businesses” lists. Our role is most definitely to continue to advocate on behalf of our industry to ensure all levels of government understand our important role in sustaining healthy and safe environments in our communities. Our role, however, is not to provide specific confirmation or advice on whether a specific business is an essential business and should remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic. These decisions are up to each of you.

The PHTCC believes that everyone in our industry has the responsibility and individual obligation to seek out important information on the COVID-19 pandemic and based on this to do what they feel is right in their area for their company, staff, customers and the communities they live and work in.

We believe that in the absence of specific guidance from your provincial officials, that we all should be following the direction and spirit of this communication.

Thank you to everyone in the Pool & Hot Tub Industry for your leadership during this difficult time. I welcome further input and questions from you and can be reached at the below email.

In the meantime, I invite you to visit the Council’s COVID-19 specific website for more information;
