PHTCC Notes

  • It is not clear from the list provided whether or not Pool and Spa businesses fall into the category of "Essential" in Newbrunswick. We welcome you to edit the lobby letter below and send it to the government official for your area listed in the excel document.

  • Hotels, motels, inns and bed and breakfasts are not required to stop offering accommodation. They do need to reduce their food and beverage services to take-out and delivery, to close their pools, spas and saunas, and to apply all the social distancing and hygiene recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer of Health.

  • Construction and maintenance businesses are not required to cease operations. They do need to apply all the social distancing and hygiene recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer of Health.

  • Production and manufacturing are not required to cease operations. They do need to apply all the social distancing and hygiene recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer of Health.

  • We've gathered that retail locations need to close their doors but can continue as per this section of the government guideline: The following retail sales lines of business are expected to stop admitting patrons immediately but remain free to sell online and by the phone and to maintain pickup and delivery activities: electronics, furniture, appliance, vehicle.

  • The PHTCC is urging all in the Pool & Spa Industry to follow these public health guidelines and take a leadership role in significantly curtailing or shutting down non-essential operations for the next two (2) weeks. Beyond this period remains to be seen, however, it has been noted by some that we have had late starts to previous seasons due to weather, so something of such critical importance warrants a similar delay.

  • Pool & Hot Tub companies that remain open should have as their top priority the health and safety of all employees and customers. Any work undertaken should be primarily focused on proper pool & hot tub “maintenance” as it pertains to the prevention of additional infectious diseases through un-sanitized and non-operable pools.

  • Recognizing that each company must make its own operating decisions, the PHTCC recommends that companies should NOT be starting new build projects during the minimum 14-day period commencing on Tuesday, March 24 at 11:59 pm.”

  • Pool & Hot Tub companies that remain open must take extraordinary measures to protect employees, customers, and the general public.
