NOVEMBER 23, 2020 Ontario is shuttering in-person retail shopping (curbside pickup only) but allowing grocery stores, pharmacies, hardware stores and liquor stores to operate at 50 per cent capacity in the hotspot regions of Toronto and Peel VISIT LINK

The Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada continues to contact Ontario Government officials for clarity on the “essential businesses” list regarding the pool & spa industry. In the meantime, we are advising our members that opening and maintaining pools & spas still “fits” under the following section:
#20. Maintenance, repair and property management services strictly necessary to manage and maintain the safety, security, sanitation and essential operation of institutional, commercial, industrial and residential properties and buildings. -
And that PHTCC members providing these services continue to adhere to the Provincial Government’s physical distancing guidelines as follows:
1. Ensure the customer stays indoors while the technician(s) are working onsite.
2. Maintain a physical distance of two meters from co-workers and all others.
3. Wear all necessary PPE (personal protective equipment).
4. Sanitize all surfaces and areas we have been in contact with while providing these services.
Please note: The PHTCC is seeking legal counsel to see if the most recent descriptions indicate a material change to the government’s previous criteria/position on new pool construction. We suggest that until we advise otherwise, members continue to focus their efforts on pool openings and maintenance and not new pool constructions.
